Helping people lead productive lives

ASPPIRE is a welcoming, community-focused nonprofit that supports adults with disabilities as they navigate life. Based in Mid-Michigan, we offer social coaching services, employment supports, case management, and access to vital community resources — empowering individuals to live fulfilling, independent, and connected lives. While many of our participants are on the Autism Spectrum, we have experience supporting a wide range of disabilities.

Our Mission

We believe every individual has unique value and the right to a life filled with purpose and possibility. Our programs are rooted in the idea that education and personal growth don’t stop—they continue throughout adulthood. Whether it’s learning new social skills, fostering professional and personal development, exploring creative opportunities, or simply having a safe space to connect with others, ASPPIRE is here to help you thrive in your own way.

ASPPIRE is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and respectful environment for all participants, families, staff, and community partners. We celebrate diversity in all its forms and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Our programs are designed to provide equal access, opportunity, and support to ensure every individual is treated with dignity and empowered to thrive.

Principle Beliefs

Our core beliefs shape every connection we build, every resource we offer, and every step we take toward creating a more inclusive, empowered community.

At ASPPIRE, we know that everyone needs support sometimes—and we’re proud to walk alongside our participants as they build confidence, skills, and meaningful connections in their communities.

Every individual has inherent worth and dignity and is valued for their uniqueness.

You can make a Difference.

Our History

ASPPIRE was founded in 2008 by Bob Steinkamp, a retired special educator, to bridge the gap in services for individuals transitioning out of the school system. From the start, our approach has combined understanding, structure, and compassion to help individuals grow, thrive, and become active members of the community. In 2011, we became a nonprofit and have continued to expand, serving individuals and families across the region with dedication and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Our Services

ASPPIRE offers a range of programs designed to support personal growth, employment readiness, and social engagement. Our services include social coaching, job development, case management and skill-building workshops that help participants navigate daily life with confidence. Through tailored support, advocacy, and enrichment activities, ASPPIRE fosters independence and community involvement, ensuring individuals have the tools they need to succeed in various aspects of life.
